Some shapes need no explanation - they have been with us too long. I made this piece for the people who feel something when they see a spiral, even if they cannot say exactly what. The pendant is formed from a single continuous strip of copper, coiled by hand from the center outward, the same way this symbol has been shaped for thousands of years.
Copper worn close to the chest - against the heart - is something people in every civilization I have ever read about have done, and those who come back to me say they stopped noticing what they used to notice.
This is one of the last necklaces I will make before I close my workshop forever. I hope it finds the neck that needs it.
